The most anticipated yearly sporting event, “NKA-K CRICKET TROPHY 2014” was organized by North Kanara Association-Kuwait (NKAK), on 10th and 17th October, 2014 at Agility premises in Mina Abdullah, which was open to one and all, with no restriction of age, religion or nationality.
32 vibrant teams participated in this spectacular event. The Agility Grounds were witness to great matches and spectacular players. The team Friday Court bagged the Winners’ Trophy while team Friends Kuwait won the Runners Up Trophy. Several Cricket enthusiasts, well wishers and supporters gathered to cheer the participating teams on both the days of the tournament.
The ‘Award Ceremony’ was graced by Agility dignitaries, Mr. Khalid Al Khalidi, Head of Computer & Telecomm Center in KISR, ICT Systems Consultant in Ministry of Planning, Manager Occupational & Environmental Safety, DDKS project, Mr. Khaled Al Mousa, Senior Manager, Property Management, Mr. Frank Clary, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. TekBahadurKarki, Senior Operations Manager, Mr. MohideenZahir Hussain, Operations Manager, Mr. LaxminarayanBatho, Operations Manager, Mr. Riad Mohammad Mustafa Kutkut, Site Supervisor, Agility and Mrs. and Mr. Pascal Pinto, President, Gulf NRI Forum.
Mrs. Marita Miranda, NKAK Asst. Event Organizer, gave a brief introduction of the guests in a befitting manner followed by presentation of bouquets to the guests by the children of the Committee members. Mr. John Fernandes, NKAK President, extended his whole hearted welcome to every member present and thanked the Agility Administration who had gathered, for providing a platform for our activities every time a request is made and for all support granted to the Association with a single request. He also welcomed and thanked Mr. Pascal Pinto who has always been extending a helping hand to the Association in every form. Mr. Edward Alphonso spoke of the motive of the Association in a very transparent and touching manner, giving a brief but worthy insight of the objectives of the Association which made an impact to the audience. The Guest of Honor Mr. Khalid Al Khalidi who has been handling exemplary posts in the Govt. as well as private sectors all along, addressed the audience and spoke both in an intellectual and affectionate manner, and left a deep impression on the minds of the people gathered including the participating teams. He expressed his impression of Indians as peaceful people, his love for Kuwait and solidarity of the participating teams.
The Winners, Runners-up and the outstanding players of various Teams were awarded with Trophies, cash prizes, gold and silver medals, and certificates. The President felicitated some of the volunteers who had worked very hard in the background during the tournament.
Vote of thanks by the NKAK Vice President, Mr. Richard Mascarenhas was equally touching & reciprocative, who expressed his heart felt thankfulness to the honorable guests for their gracious presence, including the Board members, participating teams and everyone present, and most of all our valued Sponsors whose contributions were of great help to us to reach our objective of holding this tournament for a cause. It is worthwhile mentioning here that Mr. Amit Fudtado, Team Leader of the Runners Up team, who was much motivated hearing the objectives of the Association being focused on the down-trodden, etc., willingly donated their cash prize back to the Association, which was an unexpected kind gesture and an act of generosity towards the Association, which will always be treasured.

DJ Hudson belted out scintillating music and provided the sound system for delivering various speeches. A food stall was the main attraction at the venue, with delicious home cooked mouth watering dishes prepared by some of the Committee Members, who took pains to prepare variety of breakfast and lunch, voluntarily contributing to the association in their own little ways. Tolyson Miranda, a member of NKA-K did a wonderful job by capturing almost all the parts of the event with his camera.
