St Thomas Orthodox Christian Youth Movement celebrated its Ponnonam 2014 on Sept 19, with Colorful Programs. The Program started at 9; 00 am with the traditional Floral Design (Athapoookalum) contest and followed by a cultural procession. The Public meeting started with prayer and OCYM Flag hosting. The Public meeting was inaugurated by Ibinuuu Kabasi (Deputy Chief of Mission) of Benin Embassy. Rev Fr Kurian John President of OCYM Ahmadi Unit Chaired the Function. Rev Fr Saju Philip, Rev Fr Abraham Mathai, James George, Joseph P John, Ninan Cherian, Evans C Koshy, Maveli spoke on the occasion .OCYM released Yuvadarsanam Onam Souvenir, special during the meeting which was coordinated by Anu Padathara and Litten M Johnson (Souvenir Conveners).Biju S Joy (General Convener) welcomed the guests and Biju K C (Program Convener) delivered the vote of thanks.
Mr. Joseph P John, Mr. Evans C Koshy and Mr. Biju Cherian were honored by giving a small Token of Appreciation for all the hard work they have done for the Success of OCYM for the past years.
Memento of Malayalam Padanavedi for teachers and Certificates and Trophies for VIBGYOR (Coloring Competition) was also distributed during the meeting. Cultural Programs started with Prayer Song with St Thomas Choir. Semi Class Dance by Chris Susan, Skit by MGOCSM, Chendamelam, Solo Songs by Janis Mariam Vinod, Anna Elizabeth Raju, Jiya Susan Paul, Comedy Skit by St Gregorious & St Dionysius Prayer Group, Thiruvatira by St Paul’s Prayer Group, Vallamkali and Nadan pattu by St. Stephen’s Indian Orthodox Congregation, Cinematic Dance by, St Mary's Prayer Group, Sunday School Students, Martha Mariam Samajam, Manna Prince and Group, Dona Ajay and Group were some of the major attractions of the Ponnonam2014,
Well-known Playback singers Vidhya Shankar, Preethi Warrier (Idea Star Singer Fame) and team performed a wonderful Musical Extravaganza on stage which had the whole audience dancing to their tunes. , Rev Fr Abraham Mathai, Ms Reeva Maria Varghese, Master Milin supported Vidhya Shankar for making this program a grand success.
More than 800 people were treated with the traditional Onasadhya.Food Conveners Manu Baby, Biju Cherian, Sunil Alexander and Issac Mathew did a wonderful task by preparing the traditional Onasadhya.
Malayali Community from different areas gathered at Abuhalifa Hall to take part in Ponnonam 2014.OCYM Treasurer Binu Thomas, Joint Secretary Reji K Paul, PonnOnam Joint Convener Robin Daniel, Reception Committee Convener Reni George, Transport Coordinator Arun Thomas, Coupon Committee Convener Manoj C Thankachan, Publicity Committee Convener Sijo P John, Food Stall Committee Convener, Rijo Varghese made a great effort to gather them together.
A team of Volunteers headed by Shiju Symon made sure that every single arrangement was running smoothly to make this grand program a huge success.
