School student Pratyusha shows her way in J&K rescue and rehabilitation effort

11th Standard Student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, D.R. Pratyusha shows an exemplary way of humanitarian aid by contributing around 1001 KD to the Prime Ministers relief fund for Jammu and Kashmir flood relief. She collected the contributions from people by putting in her own efforts in Kuwait. Pratyusha donated over Rs Two lakhs to Embassy of India, Kuwait after listening to the Prime Ministers appeal for humanitarian assistance to the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, where millions of people have been impacted by the worst floods in over a century.

"I am very proud of Pratyusha. It’s a highly commendable job done by a girl of her caliber", said HE Sunil Jain, the ambassador of India to Kuwait while speaking to Indiansinkuwait.com. "She is a role model for today’s youth", he added.

Indian community members and organizations in Kuwait are collecting funds and material relief for those affected in the flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir. Indian Embassy in Kuwait has already published the list of donors on their web site.

"During my summer vacation, I had visited these places and got a chance to closely interact with the local people in Jammu and Kashmir. They are very humble and happily living there. When I heard the news about flood at those places, it really touched my heart and I wanted to do something for them" Pratyusha told IndiansinKuwait.com. She first approached Indian Embassy in Kuwait. "Embassy officials were really helpful and Ambassador personally appreciated my efforts", she said. Pratyusha made a personal appeal letter and approached the public. "Initially I collected the donations through my friend’s circle, later I went to the public directly," she told. "Not only Indians but other nationalities also supported my efforts. It was very heartening to see that few Pakistanis also donated for this", she said.

All of us are proud Indians and I feel this is the least that we can do for our brothers and sisters back home who are in need of support at this hour and serve our country, says Pratyusha in her sincere appeal.

D.R. Pratyusha is an IIK Young Reporter and has written many articles in IndiansinKuwait.com as IIK Young Reporter. She is the is the daughter of Duvvuri Venkateshwar and Avasarala Sasikiran Venkateshwar.
