Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (IES) celebrates Hindi Diwas

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (IES) celebrates Hindi Diwas every year on September 14 to pay tribute to the official language of India as Hindi was adopted as the official language of the constituent assembly on that day. Hindi and India are inseparable. The ethos of India are reflected through Hindi and Hindi is regarded as the national language of India by many.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan organized a Street Play (Nukkad Natak) Competition as part of its Hindi Diwas Celebrations for the students of Indian Schools in Kuwait in the school auditorium. The events of the day began with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by a prayer in Hindi.

An invocation dance was performed by the students of 9B. Kyra, a first grader, spoke about the importance of Hindi. The costumes, music, colour and ambience reminiscent of India created a magical aura of nostalgia in the minds of the audience that comprised parents, teachers and children. The choral recitation of the famous Hindi poem ‘class monitor’ by the ebullient children of the primary wing was well received with a round of thunderous applause.

The theme of this year’s Street Play Contest was ‘Bhaghte Zindgi Chootte Rishtain’ (Waning relations amidst the rat race of life). The street play contest unveiled the flamboyant flairs of the participants. The street play transported the spectators back to the realms of nostalgic reminiscences of their mother land – India. It was indeed a tough task for the veteran judges Mrs Navaneetha Gandhi and Mrs Neethu Sinha to adjudge the energetic enactment of multifaceted actors. The teams portrayed ‘dwindling family values amid hectic and tedious urban lifestyle.’ “The theme was indeed an eye-opener”, said an enthusiastic parent upon asking about the street play contest.

The first place was bagged by the team that represented FAIPS, Fahaheel. The team represented SIMS, Salmiya was adjudged to be the first runner up.

The principal of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (IES) Mr T Premkumar congratulated the winners. He emphasised on the importance of learning Hindi to learn more about India and its elegant culture. He also thanked the teachers and parents for their sincere efforts. Mrs Swarna Saini, the head of the department of Hindi delivered the welcome speech and Mrs Sundari Bala proposed the vote of thanks. Emcees of the day were Drashti Shah, Pankhuri Bhandary and Meghavarnika Budati.
