Indian Embassy and NCCAL hosted musical evening with Sufi Gospel Project troupe

The Embassy of India and National Council for Culture Arts and Letters (NCCAL) held a cultural program of Indian musical evening by the Sufi Gospel Project troupe lead by Sonam Kalra at Shamiya Theatre near Kuwait city.

The event was held as part of the cultural and arts exchange between Indian and Kuwait. While inaugurating the event, India's Ambassador to Kuwait Sunil Jain lauded the level India's bilateral relations with Kuwait in various fields, particularly in cultural and arts exchange. Large number of Kuwaitis and diplomats attended the function. Mr A K Srivastava from Indian embassy welcomed the audience.

Sufi Gospel Project's vocalist Sonam Kalra said that her troupe presents a mixture of various Indian spiritual vocals through music, songs, and rhymes in which classic Indian vocals blend in with western gospel vocals.

Western rhymes enrich Indian spiritual texts, creating a vital vocal that touch hearts and spirits despite differences in language or origins as faith is the only language in the universal realm, Kalra added, noting that the Indian troupe presents a unique and unprecedented kind of music, in which traditional Indian musical instruments blend with classic Christian gospels.

She also indicated that the music of Sufi Gospel Project proves the possibility of creating harmony among various spiritual songs and music, expressing at the same time gratitude to NCCAL for hosting such evening.

The two day event will continue today also at Shamiya Theater from 7:30 pm.
