IES Celebrated Its Eighth Founder’s Day

Each year, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait organizes a Founder’s Day event on the fifth of September to celebrate the spirit of its legacy, success and power as a premier educational institution that was built not only with stones and mortar but ideals, values and ethics imbibed from its visionary founder Mr N.K Ramachandran Menon, the guiding spirit behind all the successful Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan institutions in the Middle East.

This year too, Bhavans majestically celebrated its 8th Founder’s Day in the school auditorium on the fifth of September in the presence of eminent guests, invitees, teachers, parents, friends and well-wishers of Bhavan family in Kuwait and elsewhere so as to proudly herald the successful completion of eight gloriously efficacious years in the arena of private education in Kuwait.

The dignitaries Mr Ramachandran Menon, the founder cum chairman of Bhavan Group of Schools in the Middle East, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, Director, Bhavan Group of Schools in the Middle East, Sponsor’s son Mr. Ahmed Ali Judyan, principals of Bhavan Institutions in the Middle East, principals of prominent Indian schools in Kuwait and the special guests of the day were accorded a hearty welcome in the traditional Rajasthani folk style by the Student Council of the School.

The events of the day unfurled when Mohamed Imad, a senior student of the institution invoked the blessings of the Almighty followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp of knowledge by the guests and the founder of the institution.

Mrs.Anita Sadananda, the vice principal of the senior wing, presented the bouquets of welcome to the invitees and guests in the form of an endearing welcome address. Talented sprouting dancers of Bhavan Kuwait staged an invocation dance, claiming the applauses of the audience.

The Keynote address was delivered by the Director of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran. In his speech, he extolled the collective efforts of the school management and pedagogues for the outstanding success of Bhavan Kuwait that has attracted both admiration and envy.

A documentary flick on the vision, mission and growth of Bhavan institutions across the Middle East was shown to the invitees.

The cultural extravaganza was the most appealing and enthralling part of the day’s events. The cultural fiesta comprising the finest elements of fine arts was lauded extensively by the spectators. The chef d'oeu·vre performance of the day was a choreographic staging of ‘Poothappaattu’ (an awe-inspiring literary work of a prominent Indian literary figure Mr Idasseri Govindan Nair) by the cultural wing of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan – Bhavan Rhythmscapes. The professionalism displayed throughout the performance by the talented Bhavanites was cheered and applauded greatly by the audience. Another great performance that the audience witnessed was ‘Samskara’ - a ballet showcasing the ideology of education imparted at the Bhavan Institutions. The cultural show also consisted of a soul-stirring Carnatic classical music rendition by Kishan and Kishore Paul Raja of grade XI B.

Principals of Bhavan’s sister concern institutions addressed the gathering. They showered their blessings on Bhavan Kuwait and praised the efforts of the principal and staff in fostering and nurturing the institution to its present grandeur. They reiterated the fact that Bhavan Middle East could grow from 111 students at the time of its inception to an amazing 7000+ students within just eight years is indeed a testimony to the dedication and the solemn endeavours of the pedagogues and pupils.

They also appreciated the earnest efforts and farsightedness of the founder of Bhavan Kuwait, Mr N.K Ramachandran Menon.

The class coordinators were given away certificates for their outstanding contribution to the institution along with the teachers who secured 100% attendance in the last academic year. The teachers who have been teaching continuously in various Indian schools in Kuwait for more than 25 years were conferred upon gold medallions with their names inscribed as tokens of Bhavan’s utmost respect to the noblest profession by the chairman of Bhavan Kuwait in the presence of the Director of Bhavans Middle East. The four recipients of the honour badges were Mrs Lafera Mendes from Al Amal School, Zena Hillarious, Annamma Cherian and Nilam Chadha of FAIPS (DPS), Kuwait.

Chairman of Bhavan Kuwait also presented a cheque for KD 500 to the promoters of a humanitarian organisation ‘Foundation of Hope’ with the noble intention to help the less fortunate children in Kuwait. The fund was raised by Bhavanites in lieu of the little pleasures derived from the consumption of chocolates and pastries on their birthday. The management of the school also extended financial assistance to the children under the care of ‘Foundation of Hope.’

The members of ‘Foundation of Hope’ thanked the children, the school management and the parent community for the support given to their organisation.

Principal Mr T.Premkumar proposed the vote of thanks. The cultural fete came to an end with a peppy Rajasthani dance staged by the Bhavan teaching fraternity. A sumptuous nine-course dinner was also organized in honour of the invitees, parents and teachers. eat
