Italian Cuisine has always been a Gourmet’s delight. Pizzas and Pastas have become the main dishes in Italian Cuisine. My passion for Italian food increased when I received an invitation from Vapiano for their grand official opening at Avenues, Phase II, Kuwait.
Vapiano is a European Chain of Restaurant offering Italian food. Vapiano means ‘live easy and relaxed, live healthy and longer’, which is the approach Vapiano has taken to its food service. The restaurant has distinctively modern Italian décor with a sophisticated ambience. Oak tables with olive oil and a small selection of fresh herbs, a spectacular green wall of herbs and at the centre a live olive tree gives the restaurant an elegant and fresh look. One just gets immersed in nature as he enters the restaurant.
The restaurant has an innovative concept of serving made-to-order hand tossed pizzas, fresh, house-made pasta and hand tossed gourmet salads. A smart card is provided to every diner, who places his order at different food counters of Pizzas, Pastas and drinks just by waving the card. The order gets placed and in front of you the chief starts preparing the wonderful mouth-watering dishes. You get your own personalised dish with your own preferences of ingredients. Favourite dishes can be created, and then individually refined. The food is simple, good and made in front of you, with options and portions just right. Once the dishes are prepared they decorate them with herbs before serving.
While we were enjoying the splendid beauty of the restaurant, we were served with a welcome drink with a mix of mint and lemon, which marked the beginning of a great Italian culinary journey.
We ordered in Pastas Alfredo with Penne - Tender Chicken breast with fresh mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, diced onion and garlic oil in a creamy sauce and in Pizza we ordered BBQ Chicken - Tender Chicken breast marinated with BBQ sauce, red onions, smoked cheese, tomato sauce, mozzarella and bruschetta tomatoes. For drinks we had orange Juice.
You can either stand near the live kitchen enjoying the amazing way they prepare the dishes or just relax on the unique stools and benches of your dining table which are decorated with live herbs and plants. Dishes being prepared in front of us were just amazing. The food was flavoursome and appetizing.
They also have options to satisfy your sweet tooth! I opt for 'Panna Cotta' dessert, which was served in a small cup and it was really great!
Their Pizzas and Pastas are priced at 3 to 4 KDs which are not on a higher side considering the ambience and atmosphere. A family can have a fine Italian dining with a beautiful view of the Avenue mall for less than 10 KD budget.
When you are ready to leave the restaurant you just pay for what you have ordered on your card at the front desk.
Vapiano restaurant is an ideal place for friends and families to get together for lunch or in the evening and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine with the wonderful view of the Avenue Mall.
