NITCAA Organized, The Festival of Quizzes - Trishna 8

Trishna 8, the Festival of Quizzes was celebrated in Kuwait in grand style. Organized by National Institute of Technology Calicut Alumni Association (NITCAA), Kuwait chapter it consisted of MahaQuizzer ME –Kuwait held on 31st January, simultaneously at three centers - FAIPS, IEAS and ILOA, Kuwait Engineers Forum (KEF) Inter-Alumni Quiz held on the 11th of April and the Inter-School Quiz held on the 12th of April, 2014 at the Kuwait Medical Association hall, Jabria. The quiz master Mr. Arun Narayan Hiregange from Karnataka Quiz Association, Bengaluru took the contestants and the audience to a different realm of quizzing with his craftily framed questions. On 11th April 2014, the registration for Trishna 8 started at 1.30 pm and the inauguration was held in the presence of KEF General Convener Mr. Suresh Krishnan, KEF GC Designate Mr. Santhosh Kumar, NITCAA Kuwait President Mr. Moti David, General Secretary Mr. Suresh K and Trishna 8 General Convener Mr. M. B. Vijayakumar.

The competition was held in three categories - Juniors, Seniors and the Family Trio. The well attended events saw neck to neck competition in each category.

Trishna 8 – KEF Inter-Alumni Quiz Winners:

Juniors Category:

1. Winner - College of Engineering, Trivandrum Alumni Association (CETAA) represented by Anirudh Manoj & Rohan Saji John

2. Runner up – National Institute of Technology, Calicut Alumni Association (NITCAA) represented by Aadhithya Jayaprakash & Aaron JohnThomas

3. Second Runner up – Mar Athanasius College of Engineering Alumni Association (MACEAA) represented by Ivin Issac Georgi & Saurav Jyothi

Seniors Category:

1. Winner – Government Engineering College, Thrissur Alumni Association (TECAA) represented by Athul Suresh Krishnan & Vijai Krishnan

2. Runner up – NSS College of Engineering Alumni Association (NSSCEAA) represented by Shaheem Hussain & Sidharth Pradeep

3. Second Runner up - Kuwait Engineers Association (KEA) represented by Niharika Sunil & Shreyas Lalu

Family Trio Category:

1. Winner – KEA represented by Ramesh N. Athreya, Shilpa Nair & Nikhil V. Varughese

2. Runner up - CETAA represented by James Daniel, Meera Manoj & Mukul Desh

3. Second Runner up – Association of Engineering Colleges in Kerala (estd. after 1980 – AECK) represented by George Mohan, Nirmala James & Shaham Ahmed

All the winners were given attractive prizes and certificates. On this occasion the prizes for weekly and monthly online quizzes were also awarded.

On Saturday, 12th April 2014, Trishna 8, the inter-school quiz was held for the first time. A total of 54 teams from 10 schools participated in the preliminary written round held at 2:00 PM at KMA hall, Jabriya. A team each from eight schools were selected for the final round, on-stage quiz in both the juniors and seniors categories based on their marks in the preliminary round. The students participated in the quiz with great enthusiasm and the quiz master commended the excellent performance of the children.

Juniors category:

1. Winner: Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School represented by Rohan Saji John and Aishwarya Shaji

2. Runner-up: Indian Learner’s Own Academy represented by Sehen Dilkush Gamhewa and Reuben Vinod Varghese

3. Second runner-up: India International School represented by Cheekala Sashank and Yumna Kulsoom

Seniors Category:

1. Winner: Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School represented by Rahul Raju and Mohsin Mustafa

2. Runner-up: Indian Educational School (Bhavans) represented by Mitoshi Nandi and Anirudha Ramesh

3. Second runner-up: Indian Community School, Kuwait represented by Vivek Prasad Dalbehera and Daanish Baig.

Overall Champions:

1. Winner: Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School

2. Runner-up: Indian Community School, Kuwait

3. Second runner-up: Indian Educational School (Bhavans)

All the winners were awarded certificates and prizes. The felicitation of the winners of Mahaquizzer ME - Kuwait 2014, the open, solo, written quiz conducted on 31st January, 2014 was also held on 12th April.

Top three positions (Schools – 8th standard & above): Rahul Raju (FAIPS), Mohsin Mustafa (FAIPS) and Elrich Joshua Miranda (IEAS – Don Bosco).

Top three positions (Schools – up to 7th standard): Rohan Saji John (Carmel School), Raghav Vasudeva (FAIPS) and Aishwarya Shaji (FAIPS).

Best Participating schools: Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School, ICSK, Gulf Indian School and IEAS (Don Bosco).

First Place – Students (Female): Aheli Gupta (FAIPS)

Youngest participant: Abaan Khan (FAIPS)

NITCAA President Mr. Moti David, General Secretary Mr.Suresh K. and Trishna 8 Inter-School Quiz General Convener Mr. Kripakar Swaminath presided over the function. The KEF General Convener Mr. Suresh Krishnan was the guest of honour.
