Konkani VCDs have been in great demand with overseas Goans, particularly with Kuwait Goans. Thanks to some passionate artistes based in Kuwait, there are plenty of albums released every year. Infact, Kuwait has a distinct record of releasing Konkani videos at almost every Goan function.
Custodio Coutinho, a Goan singer based in Kuwait, will release his Konkani video album of songs entitled, 'Ugddas Tuzo’ (Your memory) in Kuwait on 20th April (Easter Sunday) during the staging of ‘Goan Khell’ at Asia-Asia Hall in Souk Al Watya.
The video under the banner of Coutinho Brothers Productio has been shot in Goa and Kuwait, the videography has been credited to Johny (Exodus Studio, Goa) and Remmie Rodrigues (Kuwait).
Music is what beautifies ‘Ugddass Tuzo’. Ace musician Maestro Shahu Almeida has provided dazzling tunes and beats to befit the lyrics of each song. The entire album has an excellent flow and the unique presentation makes the album rich and pleasant for viewing.
What makes the video special is the fact that Custodio who has been working in a Kuwaiti house for many years now, was able to put a cast together, to present a DVD of a very high quality.
“It was my dream to do something for my mother-tongue and display my ability as a singer as well. My dream was made possible only because of Bab Shahu’s encouragement,” says the proud producer.
Custodio hails from Cuncolim, Gulleacotto, Goa. He started acting and singing in Konkani dramas at the age of 12 years, and acted in dramas back home for almost 25 years.
Years ago, he even acted and sang in celebrated director Prem Kumar’s drama ‘Podonponnacho Kaido’ staged at Mazgaon, Bombay in celebration of Chandor’s feast of 3 Kings.
In his message, Custodio thanked all the well-wishers, sponsors, artists, videographers, his brother, and most of all Maestro Shahu for all his efforts.
‘Ugddas Tuzo’ presents 11 melodious tracks. The album features Katty de Navelim, Deborah, Franky Paroda, Alias, Salu de Loutolim, Edward Estibeiro, Comedian Selvy, Bab Agnel, Kuwait Trio Kings Cajetan de Sanvordem, Mario de Majorda and Michael D’Silva and Custodio Coutinho.
Support artists include Rolly Diniz, Aerosmith Almeida, Willy, Anthony, Reena Fernandes, Michael Almeida, Evons D’Costa, Vincy Sequeria, Jose Gomes, etc.
In the title song, ‘Ugddass Tuzo‘, Custodio sings a heart-wrenching tribute in dedication to his brother‘s son late Larson Coutinho who died a young age.
Dennem, a song by Katty de Navelim has a lesson for everyone. The song displays the class and great screen presence of the singer.
Deborah’s song ‘Munxeachi Beiman Zath‘ a song which throws light on some of the issues in our society is sung in a highly professional manner. Picturization of this song and the music makes the song special and awesome.
Franky Paroda sings ‘Teacher-ancho dusman‘ – a song on the perils of teachers backed with a tune reminiscent to a political trio.
‘Goem‘, a striking song on Goa can be the pick of the album. Cajetan-Mario-Michal’s beautiful rendition of this song proves once again why the Trio Kings are among the best trio singers. Their syncronized voices are pleasing indeed and showcase an archetypal way of Goan-style.
