Indian Embassy officials raise concerns with Kuwaiti authorities

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

Deputy Chief of Mission and Acting Ambassador Mr Vidhu P Nair held a discussion with the Director of Consular Affairs at Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conveyed the embassy’s concern over the continuous harassment and arrests of Indians during the recent security crackdown by the authorities.

Embassy also sought a six-month grace period for residency violators and urged authorities to stop harassment and arrest of people with valid documents.

The authorities have reportedly promised full cooperation, embassy sources told. Embassy sources also told that the ministry has promised to provide the embassy the full list of Indians who have been deported and those who are held at detention centers.

Embassy also requested the authorities to inform the Embassy immediately when any of the Indian nationals arrested to enable them to provide consular services.

The Indian officials also brought to the notice of the ministry officials about the continuous harassment of people traveling in their cars and moving in public places.

Last day 100s of Indian gathered the embassy to seek embassies intervention in the issues where large numbers of Indians are detained at various police stations. eat
