Taal Restaurant - a remarkable twist to contemporary Indian Cuisine

Taal means Rhythm a combination of specific beats in Indian Classical Music and similarly Taal Restaurant, Kuwait is a combination of flavours of India in its Traditional Indian Cuisine.

Mango Festival in a Restaurant? The curiosity to know what is this and Mango, the king of fruits being my favourite craved me to visit the Taal restaurant which is located in Salmiya.

Mango Festival cut out with a mango picture beautifully engraved at the entrance of the restaurant welcomed us and this just increased my curiosity to know what’s in stored for us. We were welcomed with a smile by the steward who escorted us to the amazing live open Cooking Station in the restaurant. This open cooking station was one of the most exquisite one as the chef cooks in front of you a variety of delicious mango dishes. This just made me feel I am at the right place to fulfil all my cravings for mango delicacies’. The partition in the restaurant just caught my eye. It was decorated with hues of Glass Bangles which was unique and very attractive. The ambience and decor was magnificent. The ceiling had Devanagari script written to give the Indian touch and huge hanging Chandeliers just mesmerized me. Light Indian Music being played at the background and a lovely ambience gave a perfect meaning to the word Taal.

Our Journey started with 3 starters which were prepared live at the cooking station Tandoori Ambuda Jheenga - Jumbo Prawns Marinated with Raw Mango, Cooked on Grill, Grilled Fish With Mango - Sliced Fish Fillet Flavoured With Mangoes And Indian Spices, Grilled to perfection and Khatta Meetha Murgh Tikka - Tangy Chicken Tikka Marinated With Raw And Fresh Mangoes. The starters just awakened my taste-buds with its incredible taste combination.

Then we ordered our main Course. The Steward helped us in placing our orders. We came to know that all the dishes prepared here and even the mango dishes are all signature dishes of internationally renowned Master Chef Judge, Kunal Kapur. As some of us were vegetarians we ordered some vegetarian dishes also. For veg starters - Malai Mushroom Bruschetta – Crisp French bread topped with butter mushroom, flavoured with smoked cheese and Indian Spices. The taste was amazing we just loved each bite of it. Main Course was Paneer Khurchan – Cottege Cheese batons, tossed with assorted peppers, onion and tomato finished with butter, Prawn Goan Curry – Prawn cooked in an authentic “Goan” Style, Chicken and Mango Butter Masala – Chicken Tikka and mango Cubes tossed in Butter masala, Veg Biriyani and Bread Basket . All dishes had an awesome taste and we just enjoyed. All dishes were lip – Smacking. Along with the main course we ordered mocktails Chilled Raw Mango Panna – Raw Mango Juice flavoured with Cumin And Mint, Served Chilled and Mango Margarita – Chilled Fresh Mangoes Blended with Crushed Ice. The Mocktails were delicious and refreshing.

To wind up with this wonderful culinary journey of ours we ordered desserts Mango Delight – Fresh Mango Cuts, served with Vanilla Ice-Cream, Orange Peel Kulfi – Whole Orange filled with homemade Indian Frozen Desert and Rasmalai – Cottage Cheese dumpling soaked in condensed Saffron milk.

In Total a promising lip-smacking experience that is a true Gourmet’s delight!!

The Vegetarians will surely enjoy as this restaurant offers variety of vegetarian dishes compared to other restaurants. My Vegetarian friends vouched that this restaurant will be at the top of their list when it comes to vegetarian dining or any other occasion.

The Restaurant is open from 12:00 PM till 11:30 PM all the days. The Mango festival is till 31st May 2013. Eating space in this restaurant is for around 110 diners and makes it a perfect place for hosting small exclusive parties. The restaurant has dining area in the top floor too. From the top floor the dining experience with view of Arabian Gulf Street during night is superb. Those who love to sit outside and dine; this restaurant offers outdoor dining in winter season. It even has a Board Room with eating space of 10 – 12 diners. Average billing for a Vegetarian family will come 10 to 14 KD and for Non – Veg Family would be 18 to – 22 KD. Taal Restaurant is located at Al Argan Complex, Al Beda Roundabout, Ta'awan Street, Salmiya, Kuwait.

Taal restaurant gave us a reason to celebrate the finest part of this season - Mangoes! We relished the finest Mango treats ever which were signature dishes of Kunal Kapoor. Here every Dining experience was exciting, memorable and very satisfying.
