The day was special and the gathering varied, while the disposition unique.Going beyond the narrow confines of region, religion and language;and transcending economic barriers, Indian women in Kuwait launched their own national entity-- IWIK (Indian Women In Kuwait).
Under the aegis of IIK (IndiansInKuwait.com), six Indian women-- Helen D'souza, Deepika Nambiar, Reshmy Krishnakumar, Parimita Barooah, Varuna Khullar, and Dr. Navniit Gandhi initiated this attempt at creating a cozy little space and platform for all Indian women residing in Kuwait. The forum commenced its activities with a get-together held on Friday- February 1, 2013, at Salmiya Private Education Hall. The registered members familiarized themselves with each other and discussed the programs to be held through the year. IWIK aims at organising informative, educational, and entertaining programs. All Indian women would find this forum enriching, even as all would get to share dreams, express ideas, and utilise their organising skills. No economic, linguistic, educational qualification is needed to become a member of IWIK. There is no membership fee either. Programs in health, nutrition, sightseeing in kuwait, social work and many other areas were enthusiastically proposed.
All those (open to Indian women only) interested in being a part of this group can write to: [email protected] or register at http://www.indiansinkuwait.com/Campaign/WomensForum/Default.aspx ou
