Mithai Competition


Mithai Contest will be held at IIK Diwali Mela 2019 on 18th October 2019. Venue is Al Zumerida Hall, Opp Salwa, Kuwait. Diwali Sweet should be Dry Indian Sweets, generally consumed during Diwali.The participants have to be present with the Mithai at 7.30 am. The Competition will start at 8.00 am sharp. The Mithai and presentation should be ready by 8:30 am for judgement.

Prizes are sponsored by KDD

Participant can register only in one competition either Mithai or Namkeen.

Participants will be provided with 400gms of Ghee from the Sponsor KDD for preparing the Mithai.

Confirmed Participants will be called to come and collect the Ghee from Gurukul,Salmiya

Last date of registration will be 10th October 2019 or as soon as we receive 15 Confirmed Participants

Confirmation of participation will be notified to the selected contestants by IIK via Email.

Rules & Regulations

  • The contest is open to all Indians residing in Kuwait, aged 18 years and above.
  • The Diwali Sweet should be Dry Indian Sweets, generally consumed during Diwali.
  • You will be provided a 1 ft X 1 ft space for exhibiting your dish.
  • Decorative items should be within the 1 ft x 1 ft space provided
  • Use of fire, weapons, dangerous substance that creates a hazardous condition to the health and safety of audience is strictly prohibited.
  • On the day of the contest, the participant must get the Sweet prepared AT HOME by him/her, along with the original recipe which has been followed by the participant. Under no circumstances, the participant must use ready-to-use packs or buy sweets made in shops/or from those who take orders of making sweets at home.
  • The participants have to be present with the Mithai at 7.30 am on 18th October 2019. Venue is Al Zumerida Hall, Opp Salwa, Kuwait.
  • Competition will start at 8:00am Sharp. The Mithai and presentation should be ready by 8:30 am for judgment. (Cooking not allowed at the venue).
  • After 8:30 AM no participants can stay near their Mithais . They need to move out and visit stalls.
  • Participants can collect their utensils only after 12:00 PM. The Mithai has to be transferred to the plastic plates and kept it on the table. Participant cannot take back the Mithai.
  • One participant can bring along only one type of Mithai (and not a platter of sweets).
  • Participants will be provided with 400gms of Ghee from the Sponsor KDD for preparing the Sweets.
  • Confirmed Participants will be called to come and collect the Ghee from Gurukul,Salmiya
  • A Creative style of presentation will surely earn extra points.
  • Participant can register only in one competition either Mithai or Namkeen.
  • The quantity of the sweet brought at the venue should be a minimum of 1/4 KG (250 gms).
  • The participant should be ready to answer any question by the judge regarding the making of the sweet prepared by the participant if called.
  • Judge will pick 3 winners and the decision of the judge shall be final. No disputes shall be entertained thereafter.
  • Entry to the contest is limited to the first 15 Confirmed participants only. So Hurry Up and Get Going!!!
