On April 25, 2024, the Indian Community School Kuwait-Khaitan orchestrated a solemn investiture ceremony to inaugurate the School Senate for the academic year 2024-25. The democratically elected school senate, comprising students chosen through a fair and transparent electoral process, was formally invested with its responsibilities during this ceremony. It marked a significant milestone in our institution's democratic ethos and was a testament to the values of democracy, participation, and leadership that form the cornerstone of our educational philosophy.
The Investiture Ceremony was honoured by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Mr Peeyush Jain, Chief Operating Officer of AIRTEC, Kuwait, and President of the IIT IIM Association Kuwait. The event commenced with a respectful salute and guard of honour by the Core Senate Members, Captains, and Vice Captains, paying homage to the Chief Guest. The rhythmic march past of the young leaders resonated across the campus, symbolising their preparedness to shoulder their responsibilities.
The proceedings began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems of Kuwait and India. Mr. Peeyush Jain and Mr. K Gangadhar Shirsath, the Principal of ICSK, Khaitan, jointly conducted the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, which represents the dispelling of darkness and the dissemination of knowledge. The school's talented dancers performed a mesmerising classical dance, which added to the auspiciousness of the occasion. In his welcoming address, Mr Shirsath welcomed the distinguished guests warmly and emphasized the significance of the newly elected leaders' journey towards realising their aspirations ‘to do something’. He also underscored the qualities of exemplary leadership, highlighting the importance of a clear vision and selfless dedication to a mission. The highlight of the ceremony was the investiture of the Core Senate, Junior Senate, House Captains, and Vice Captains.
The Chief Guest, Mr Peeyush Jain honoured the elected Student Senate by affixing badges to their left lapels, symbolising their authority and responsibility. Ms Sushmeeta Prakash, the Vice Principal, administered the oath of office to the newly elected leaders, sealing their commitment to serve with integrity. The Chief Guest was felicitated by the Principal. During his address, Mr Jain deliberated on the distinction between a leader and a boss. He eloquently expressed that a leader inspires people to follow by choice, while a boss relies on authority to compel followership. He further elaborated the qualities of a true leader and urged the newly invested student leaders to adopt them while performing their duties.
The student leaders enthralled the audience with a motivational song, ‘Hum Honge Kamayab, ' on stage and later participated in a group photograph session with the dignitaries, including the Senate Advisors and House Mentors. The academic achievers of the 2023-24 academic year were honoured with the prestigious Principal’s Academic Awards. The ceremony concluded on a celebratory note, marking the beginning of a new chapter as the newly invested leaders prepared to embark on their journey of service and leadership.
