Maritime museum-A walk with marine life

Prior to the discovery of oil in 1930s, Kuwait was a thriving port for trade and an epicenter of pearl diving and fishing. The heart of Kuwait’s heritage is embedded deep within the Arabian Gulf through the collective memories of generations of seafarers and divers. As part of the Al-Qurain Festival (Mahrajan Al-Qurain), the Kuwait Maritime Museum was opened to the public for the first time since the completion of its renovation on January 10, 2010. The museum is part of the Sharqia School which is located in Kuwait City opposite of Souq Sharq. (Detailed explanation is given in the museum).

Maritime Museum is all about marine life. Literally, history is back in this museum. This is an artificial marine museum where a visitor can find something interesting for a while. Hope that the photos will help you prepare for a visit and find out the location very easily.

I went there in an evening time after 6.00 pm where there was no rush or difficulty to go thru the museum. The largest DHOWS (Al Boom) are visible from the Gulf Street. Allocate minimum one hour to spend inside the museum.

Entrance to this museum is free and camera is allowed inside.

Opening Hours:

In two shifts from morning 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and Evening 4.30 pm to 08.30 pm from Monday to Saturday. It is opened on Friday evening between 4.30 PM - 8. 30 PM.

Modern Art Museum is just nearby Maritime museum. In short, very nice museum with lots of paintings, sculptures, calligraphy etc.; Sure it is worth a visit at least once and you may visit this museum again. Prefer evening time for visiting both museums. Paintings and other art and craft works are displayed in more than 5 big halls of the 2 floors of this museum. Even though the museum is very attractive, people are very less either because of less popularity or because of the difficulty in locating.

Opening Hours:

Morning 9.00 AM TO 1.00 PM and Evening 5.00 pm TO 8.00 PM from Sunday to Thursday.

Have a nice trip....
