Indian Embassy hosts second India-Kuwait Investment Conference

Indian Embassy in Kuwait hosted the second edition of the India-Kuwait Investment Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait on Tuesday, April 23rd. The conference was held in collaboration with the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), supported by the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Investment Companies.

Distinguished guests including H.E. Mr. Ghanem Al Ghenaiman, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Mr. Saleh Al-Selmi, Chairman of the Union of Investment Companies (UIC), Mr. Rabah A. Al-Rabah, Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Gurvinder Singh Lamba, Chairman of IBPC, alongside senior officials from various Kuwaiti institutions, private sector companies, and Kuwaiti business leaders attended the conference.

In his inaugural address, Indian Ambassador Dr. Adarsh Swaika underscored India's remarkable growth trajectory and its vision for 'Vikasit Bharat' by 2047. "India stands as the fastest-growing major economy globally, the 5th largest economy with a GDP of USD 3.5 trillion, poised to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027-28," stated the Ambassador. India offers a diverse array of investment opportunities across various sectors, particularly within its expansive infrastructure initiatives. These opportunities have been made possible by the pro-business reforms implemented by the Indian government, the Ambassador emphasized.

Chairman of IBPC Mr. Gurvinder Singh Lamba and Mr. Saleh Saleh Al-Selmi, Chairman, Union of Investment Companies Kuwait (UIC) also spoke on the occasion highlighting the strong India-Kuwait business relationship.

Mr. K Rajaraman, Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority - Gift City, delivered a presentation detailing investment opportunities and the various advantages available at India's Gift City (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) - the country's premier International special economic zone for financial investment. Representatives from 'Invest India' also presented diverse investment avenues for Kuwaiti companies and individuals to participate in India's growth story. The question and answer session followed by the session explored different approaches to investing in India and benefiting from the world's fastest-growing economy.

Mr. Siddhartha Bhaiya, Managing Director & CIO, Aequitas Investment Consultancy Private Limited (Mumbai), Mr. Romil Ravi, Assistant Vice President, Invest India and Mr. Sanjiv Aggarwal, MD & CEO, National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) also made a detailed presentation of various investment opportunities in India during the session.

A high-level Indian delegation, including K Rajaraman, Chairperson of Gift City, Mr. Sanjiv Aggarwal, MD & CEO of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), Mr. Romil Ravi, Assistant Vice President at Invest India, officials from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and various private entities such as Just Rojgar Solutions Private Limited, Bharat Freight Group of Companies, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), ZR Renewable Energy Private Limited, Aequitas Investment Consultancy Private Limited (Mumbai), HDFC International Life and Re Company Limited- Dubai, and IBPC officials were present at the conference.
