You should listen to your child rather than others. If he wants to be a CS engineer go as per that. Otherwise he will drop out in the middle of the Medicine course.

Shouldn''t your son be making this decision?? Neither you (his parents) nor any other relatives should impose a choice of field on him. Ultimately, he''s the one who will have to study and live with the consequences of his decision, so it''s important that he''s not swayed by peer pressures. Just support whatever decision he makes!!

Dear Parent, Listen to your son''s choice ie PCM. If he is flexible he can opt for B also means PCMB. Otherwise, listen to your son only. Don''''t force him unnecessarily. Check his interest. All the Best to your son.

Go for computer science. You will see him successful and settle well. IT is very good and AI, Cloud computing, Data , Robotics, etc are the future. PCM enough and let him concentrate, dont overload. MBBS and medical is stressful, sleepless nights, depressing, long duration to complete after mbbs, pg, specialisation, internship, and after that the salary is very low. Getting to US or UK for higher studies very difficult and hard nowadays. Too many medical seats and colleges growing in India and Asia. But IT Specialised Engieeners are still very limited and your son has bright future anywhere in world with half of hardwork than mbbs. he will start earning after 4 th year of engineering itself.

If he wants to do CS, just forget everything. CS is the best course in high demand. There is a big shortage of company secretaries. If he completes CS, his starting salary will be above IRS 1 lakh. But it is a very tough course with below 10% result and needs full dedication. Let him do in parallel to graduation. I recommend commerce if he is willing to do CS.
On a safer side let him do PCMB so that he will get 2 years to decide.

Dear Parent, I can relate your issue as I have two sons and now passed out of school. This is tricky situation and many people will advise as per their experience and belief. Like Children, Parents also are sometimes not able to take a decision. If your child is above average and capable let him take PCB with Math''s group. This will allow both of you to make a decision in coming 2 years. Of course he needs to make his mind which competitive exam he wants to appear but at least you will have all options open for him. We parents don''t allow Kids to choose what they want in life and studies and this is hard fact of Indians, its always for good but doesn''t end that way. Take your time and choose wisely. Best wishes to you and your Son.

SERIOUSLY! Never ask children about their field of study, in 90% cases it will not be a practical choice. In regards to a child''''s career path, parents must need to guide their children''''s choices due to their limited understanding of the working world.
MBBS or any paramedical would be a much better choice

Dear Raju.
IT is good career but now demand is reduced. IT used to be gateway to USA which is loosing its charm due to very high instability of IT jobs and extremely long waiting period for green card. Moreover, IT engineers in India are not getting good pay package. Say 3-4 lacs per annum for freshers and very long working hours. However, IT engineer is cheaper course compared with MBBS and the engineer starts earning after 4 years of university.
MBBS has another charm but extremely expensive and lengthy course. See if you can afford it.
In view of both above, I suggest to opt for Pharmacy course. Jobs are always in demand and medium to big co. invest in it. Good potential in western world. Short duration and cost wise affordable.
I agree with you that parents have to interfere in deciding career option for their children especially Gulf children. Moreover if parents are not from technology field and have stayed in Gulf then their thinking, analytical and farsightedness power too reduces. (this is another topic for discussion). When my child entered university, I had to jump to suggest and decide career path for him and today he is well set in western country with residency and fat pay package.
Good luck and wishing your son.....

@reality : I really feel sorry for your children. They must have been stifled with your constant nagging and interference in every aspect of their lives! In today''s world, we should be empowering our children to explore their passions, not forcing our own unfulfilled societal aspirations upon them. @Career advisor: You are correct to a certain extent. However, we should not give advice based solely on misconceptions and generalizations, especially when it comes to a child’s education. As parents, we should not interfere but rather guide our children, helping them choose what is best for them.
